Review of Vampire Academy (2014) by Matt A — 27 Apr 2014
As someone who is far from a fan of 'young adult' supernatural films and books I actually found Vampire Academy the least annoying then it's predecessors. Zoey Duetch is charming, charismatic and funny in her role of Rose and is very much the star of the film. The rest of the acting is pretty hit and miss. Nothing so terrible it's hard to watch (queue Kirsten Scott's one facial expression and Robert Paterson's near constant look of constipation) none of it is really outstanding. Dominic Sherwood plays Lissa's love interest and you can see why, the young actor is beautiful and hopefully he will continue to graze the silver screen. Advertised as the mean girls/heathers of vamp fiction. The film does an effective job of adding must needed comedy and satire to the genre.
Must watch for fans of twilight and Harry potter.
