Review of Vampire Academy (2014) by Adrianna N — 11 Feb 2014
This movie is not the Twilight series, awful as it was, and it certainly is not Harry Potter. Those movies played out like the books, Twilight in all its pathetic, emo, sparkly vampire worshipping glory and Harry Potter with its coming of age, magical, beautifully written tale of pain, love, friendship and strength.
If those movies really embodied the books, why not this movie? I didn't plan on watching this nor did I plan on reading the books. But if you go into this with expectations of Vampire mean girls, I implore you to throw away all expectations and just go have a good brainless time at the movies.
This movie made me pick up the books and really, it plays out exactly like the books, humorous, sassy, spliced with serious undertones and the ever present romance. I liked this movie, in all its non oscar worthy glory.
Its funny, has some great eye candy and above all else, entertains. Relax critics, stop being so serious.
