Review of Vampire Academy (2014) by Halley M — 16 Feb 2014
Vampire Academy is a great movie, although I wouldn't expect it to appeal to those who who dislike the fantasy genre. It stays relatively true to the book and most characters are played flawlessly by their actors.
Zoey Deutch was absolutely amazing as Rose and embodied her character wonderfully. The advertising for this movie was horrendous, which can probably account for why no one went to see it. At first glance it seems like Twilight meets Harry Potter with a Mean Girls twist, but it's actually so much more.
The important thing to consider when watching this is that it isn't any of the movies mentioned above: it is it's own film, and despite the similarity of vampires, the mythology and storyline are completely different and well thought out.
