Review of Valmont (1989) by S. G — 16 Mar 2007
I like Milos Forman. He is an amazing director and he has made some amazing films. This is NOT one of them.
Benning's performance is cringe-worthy. Firth is no Valmont, seriously, he should stick to the goody- goody Mr. Darcy and stay away from dark, mysterious characters.
Basically, the film is an offense to one of my favorite books, Les Liaisons Dangereuses and fails where another film starring John Malkovich and Glenn Close succeeded beautifully.
Do yourselves a favor and avoid it...
