Review of Valley Girl (1983) by Jeff B — 25 Jul 2011
Well, after watching Hot Tub Time Machine I figured I should check out an 80s movie I havenâ(TM)t seen yet. Pretty decent movie, itâ(TM)s got a lot of the things I like about these teen 80s movies but it just didnâ(TM)t have enough of the elements for me to love it.
I guess one of my main problems was the inevitable moment when the two leads break up, I donâ(TM)t think there was ever any real reason she broke up with Nicolas Cage and went with the bully old boyfriend.
But anyway, I loved the two hippie parents and the side story with the guy and his girlfriendâ(TM)s mom was funny. Anyway, it was good but nothing amazing, it is funny though seeing the young Nicolas Cage still doing those crazy acting things he does even now.
Oh, and like all 80s teen films, the soundtrack rules.
