Review of Valkyrie (2008) by Timothy N — 01 Jun 2014
A serviceable take on a fascinating story, but one that, unfortunately, never resonates emotionally the way you sense Singer intended. The movie is also hurt somewhat by the sheer wealth of strong entries in its genre, which no doubt colored by expectations and impressions from start to finish.
For such a novel story, there simply isn't much in the way of novel storytelling or direction. "Downfall" is a far superior complement to this film.
