Review of Valkyrie (2008) by Robert H — 01 Jul 2014
Valkyrie gets an extra half star for subject matter as this is a story that isn't talked about nearly as much.
Singer never truly delivers anything more than a stale adequate telling of the story but it's Cruise who's the most stale of them all. Considering everything that is going on in this film there is very little emotion being portrayed by his character.
And I've always been upset by the fact that Colonel von Stauffenberg comes across as an extremely intelligent person managing to develope this large and complext plot to overthrow his government only to completely blow it when it comes to the actual assassination.
Worth checking out for anyone curious about the events around this true story just don't expect much going in and you might also enjoy it.
