Review of Valiant (2005) by Hossein N — 07 Apr 2010
I was so excited for the epic cast of celebrity voices, but the humor was only sporadically funny, the excitement was lacking, and the whole thing was devoid of purpose. Using World War II for the setting was an interesting choice, but actually played almost no role in the story itself, except as an excuse to forgo character development.
The one-dimensional characters seem to have no motivations of their own that make them good or bad, we simply divide them into good guys and bad guys based on their accents. All in all, Valiant retreads over all-to-familiar territory and demonstrates quite clearly why Disney needs Pixar.
