Review of Valhalla Rising (2009) by Ehab M — 03 Jan 2011
The ambiance was great. Love the depth of silence and use of ambient elements. The story was strong despite the singe focus road you are driven down. There is a hint to a secondary tale between the child and One Eye but it just teases you.
Never allowing you to get past the force that the character One Eye creates. That character becomes a black hole of attention even more imposed by his silence. This is not a bad thing as it shows the resolve of the character to "Just Survive" at any cost.
What I did not like was the pacing. At first...it made sense...then it just became over done. Still worth watching and having in your collection. NOT an Action flik but those few action scenes are very awesome.
The FX with prosthetic plus the quick editing work was way effective.
