Review of Valhalla Rising (2009) by Cole M — 07 Jan 2011
An alright movie. It's ultra-stylish, dark, moody, brutal, but it surprised me the most at how little dialogue is said. Not that there isn't anything wrong with a movie who's reliance is on expression than dialogue. Hell, the old spaghetti Westerns are beautifully shot just by giving us a wink, a sneer, a shift of the eyes, a reach for the weapon; simple gestures and movements.
I didn't find the film to be too spectacular. The plot is a tad confusing but the score and cinematography are immersive.
