Review of Valhalla Rising (2009) by Bradford C — 28 May 2011
To put things simply, Valhalla Rising is a medieval take on the same themes dealt with in Aguirre: The Wrath of God. Yet here the action is much slower, the dialogue understated. Rarely does a film capture the mindset of an era as this does, with as much atmosphere and brutality that modern film making can provide.
This is more suited to fans of film, used to peering into the darker aspects of the human soul. In a Hell created by Man, the only release is death.
