Review of Valhalla Rising (2009) by Tuukka P — 21 Sep 2011
Winding Refn's highly visual and surrealistic tale of a band of Vikings strandded in a foreign land. Feels almost like a Terence Malick's film with lots of beautiful shots of nature and visions of things to come.
Mikkelsen gives a silent but intense performance as amn who has almost turned into an animal to survive. Strange journey is not for the faint of heart as we get to witness a slow but sure descent into madness and lots of gory violence because of it.
