Review of Valhalla Rising (2009) by Andreas F — 07 Oct 2011
Valhalla Rising (2009).
Directed by: Nicolas Winding Refn.
Unrated, 1 hr. 30 min.
Release Date: July 16, 2010.
A very stern, rough graphically suggestive gore, depiction of a struggle for survival.
So called, Christian-Vikings? in the credits it acknowledges, it`s ways of the known world, of the time, but deep down with these marauding mercs of the lands of the arctic/atlantic, when only bravery was found deep within, shining thier light of the belief and the truth to follow as a crew demanded of a task set forth.
A lot about comraderie ..or rather seeing sides taken, to a fate of a tale spanning the quest of a plain survival for some and further greatness on the pilgrimage of of bravery untowards riches.
When ever I see this actor in character I think - tough thoughts to start with (Mads Mikkelsen as One Eye) of a guy trying to come out as this true self surrounded by that much ...this like our planets facade under it`s mighty oceans . The rest of the cast were suprisingly good enough but a small script allowed for some great acting.
Synopsis: A reputationally savage outlaw is recruited(mostly out of fear) to a crew off on an adventure to new lands and discoveries.
