Review of Valhalla Rising (2009) by Pete S — 10 May 2012
Just when I was starting to like Refn here comes Valhalla Rising, an overly serious slog of film that opens with intensity but slowly becomes a bland exercise in style. The template seems to be the new era sword and sandals films that started with 300.
While this isn't nearly as bad as that film, it's close. A huge step backward for Refn.
