Review of Valhalla Rising (2009) by Matthew F. J — 21 May 2013
It was my love of 'Drive' that drew me to one of the director's earlier movies but I just didn't quite get where this was going. It feels long (for a short film), pretentious and the only thing here that keeps your attention is the beautiful landscape in which it was filmed.
It's the kind of film I'd expect to be showing in an art installation, a first feature made by some post grads. It's very deep and meaningful but it does not make captivating viewing.
