Review of Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017) by Sanjaya B — 24 Sep 2017
I did not put much expectation watching this movie since the bad reviews regarding this movie, honestly I didn't expect it would be really entertaining. Valerian and the City of Thousand Planets finished the summer movies galore nicely for me, despite all the negative critics that make this movie like a ship that already sunk before sailing.
The only problem is with the direction of the movie, Luc Besson decide to selling this movie as a chick flick with focusing on the romance between Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne, which have no chemistry IMHO, rather than the politics. I think that is the reason why the movie flops.
But as an enjoyable movie, the movie is very entertaining. The highlight was Rihanna performance which will blow your mind (even though the scene quite non essential to the movie). And also there's a bonus for all the girls since Kris Wu, ex member of EXO, also starring in this movie. Playing small but vital role to the movie.
Overall, it is a quite entertaining movie to be watched. Just don't put your hopes too high while watching this movie!
