Review of Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017) by Marc C — 20 Nov 2017
As a large fan of science fiction and space action films, I found Valerian to be incredible. The special effects, quality of CGI, and overall visual direction of the movie are jaw-dropping.Where the movie fell short for me is in the acting. Dane DeHaan's voice is distracting and unemotional.
The badass quality that I felt Valerian portayed when reading the book/comic, is lost. Cara Delevingne feels mildly more believable however the chemistry between her character and Valerian leaves much to be desired.
Overal the plot is good and the universal is beautiful. It is mostly a shame that the acting is sub-par.
