The movie's solid plot and great CGI were masked by its unnecessary side love story. The dialogue wasn't that great either; some conversations between characters are just empty and useless. When I see the trailer I had a big expectation of the movie.
But despite all the cons, Valerian and the city of a thousand planets was an enjoyable movie.
