Review of Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017) by Ginak — 24 Jul 2017
Overall, I enjoyed this film, although it seemed to go on a bit too long, and the set design was not as original or European as I expected. The politics in the film was perhaps a bit more European since the film seemed to me generally less forgiving of militarism and imperialism than an American film would be.
I found the hero and heroine human and charming, and they were fun to watch throughout the film. Ethan Hawke was great as was Clive Owen – and I really enjoyed Rihanna’s performance, even though I knew nothing about her before I saw this film, except her name.
