Aside from the astounding visual effects and awe-inspiring creativity, Valerian left much to be desired. I refuse to believe that DeHaan and Rihanna are actually such terrible actors but rather horribly miscast, with the rest of the cast not offering much more.
The dialogue sounded like it was written by fifth-graders and tended to overdo the 'endless universe' theme.
