Review of Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017) by Terry E — 24 Jul 2017
VALARIAN: I think after watching this a second time (twice now in 3D, soon i'm going to see it for my 3rd time in a 4K theater, (I also talked to a few people afterwards who really liked it) I have come to the conclusion that All the negativity is coming from: PEOPLE WHO HAVEN'T SEEN IT YET!!! Go see it! It's GOOD! ALL YOU PUPPY'S PAID FOR BY WARNER BROTHERS, PLEASE STOP PAYING PEOPLE TO LEAVE NEGATIVE HYPE! STOP HARASSING THE SMALLER MOVIE STUDIOS.
TOO MUCH INNOVATION HERE! THIS MOVIE'S CHEESY CHARACTERS IS NO DIFFERENT THAN THE CHARACTER's WHO WERE CRITICALLY PANNED IN STAR WARS WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT (the week it came out, it did poorly due to advanced early negative reviews.
Word of mouth was what changed that movie to become a global phenomenon), FIFTH ELEMENT: CHEESY CHARACTERS, LAUGHABLE LINES, (It fizzled at the box office, critics panned the heck out of this movie, gained all it's great classic recognition through TIME), STAR SHIP TROOPERS: PAPER THIN WRITTEN CHARACTERS, BAD DIALOG (As stated by critics)(Because of the critical bad buzz, This movie was lucky to make 50 million at the box office, Now it's viewed as an all-time great sci fi classic).
PEOPLE!!!! STOP JUDGING THIS MOVIE BY THE CRITICS AND OTHER PEOPLE'S OPINION OF THE MOVIE TRAILER (they didn't see the movie yet) THIS MOVIE IS A VISUAL, FUN, ROLLER COASTER RIDE OF THE SENSES WITH FUN EASY TO FOLLOW COOKIE CUTTER CHARACTERS THAT ARE ENJOYABLE TO WATCH!!! THIS MOVIE HAS NO TITANIC (This is where we met) OR JUPITER ASCENDING (I wish I was a dog) LEVEL CHEESE BALL LINES.
IT HAS WONDERFUL THROW BACK FEELINGS OF THE FIFTH ELEMENT AND IT PUSHES EVERY LEVEL AND THEN SOME!!! SEE IT! JUDGE FOR YOURSELF! DON'T BE THAT STAR WARS-LIKE SCEPTIC LIKE THE CRITICS AND SOCIAL MEDIA AND just go see it.
Cara's execution was very fun and enjoyable. Her performance was the best part of the movie. She was comical, tough, playing a military like woman who many young girls can model after. Dane was fine.
He has a youthful 1920's-30's sc- fi look and acting that fits the character for this if it becomes a franchise. His execution was just as enjoyable as Rico in Star ship Troopers. Stop tripping over yourself and just go see it and be entertained! IT'S FUN!!!
