Review of Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017) by Jeebus C — 20 Jul 2017
Where do I begin. I went to see it last night and although I was not bored or looking at my watch for the over 2 hours of impressive sets and special effects, I came away a bit empty. It was like eating rice cakes.
Flavorless, tasteless and having the texture of styrofoam. This is nowhere as good as "The Fifth Element", which was a mind-blowing spectacle that broke all kinds of barriers for the sci-fi genre.
Think of this as a lite, a very lite version of that movie from 20 years ago. Remember that Wendy's commercial from the 1980's - Where's the beef?
