Review of Valentine's Day (2010) by John C — 14 Feb 2011
Solid, if uninspired, movie about love and relationships. Had too many characters, too many threads but was entertaining. The best part of the movie was during the end credits and featured Julia Roberts.
Jessica Alba and Kathy Bates could have been cut entirely from the film without affecting it at all. Most of the story with the gay quarterback could have been axed without affecting the story (except for the end; you need someone for Bradley Cooper to come home to). Queen Latifah's character could have been left on the cutting room floor without any real issue. Hell, the two Taylor's could have been cut as well. And all of this cutting would have made for a faster, more streamlined, and better picture that would have come in at about 90 minutes.
