Review of Valentine (2001) by Tara P — 14 Jul 2008
"Valentine" is an obvious "Scream"-inspired teed slasher movie that, sadly, isn't nearly as scary or funny as it's inspiration. Still, though, it's fun to watch the cast, some of which are huge stars now, as they evidently are enjoying themselves.
The movie has a certain sense of fun, and is directed with an amount of style that other films of it's kind don't have (thanks in a large part to Jamie Blanks, the director of the superior "Urban Legend").
Overall, it's easy to see why so many seem to have forgotten "Valentine". It was lost in a sea of teen slashers that resemble each other so much, it's hard to tell which is which. It's not a bad movie, though, by far.
For a night in with a bowl of popcorn and a bucket of ice cream, "Valentine" makes for moderately fun entertainment.
