Review of Vagabond (2015) by Private U — 29 Dec 2007
It is a great movie. First of all, one cannot help but be impressed by Bonnaire's performance: she is ugly and filthy (whereas she is very attractive in "real-life"). The movie is extremely well-written: it is both extremely coherent and complex (one hears different voices or sees/hears different accounts of the same event). It is a radical destruction of the myth of "life on the road" (kerouac-style): the heroine gets raped, does not create any genuine human bond and her death is sad and sordid. This movie is more than necessary.
I would go as far as to say this movie is a masterpiece.
