Review of Vacation (2015) by Dann M — 05 Feb 2016
A new generation of Griswolds set out for adventure in the screwball comedy Vacation. Realizing that his family is in a rut, Rusty Griswold decides to take them on a road trip to the Walley World amusement park; just like his dad did with him when he was young.
Ed Helms and Christina Applegate lead the cast and do a fairly good job at handling this type of slapstick comedy. However, the characters aren't very relatable, and the comedy is pretty broad; going for a lot of gross-out humor.
Additionally, except for Rusty inheriting his father's passion for family, the film does a poor job at honoring the original Griswold characters. Failing to recapture the fun and hilarity of the National Lampoon classic, Vacation is a cheap knockoff and an unworthy successor.
