Review of Vacation (2015) by Junelkean — 03 Jul 2017
Remembering his experiences from the National Lampoon's Vacation comedies, the Griswolds are back with a new generation making Ed Helms and Christina Applegate the lead roles of the movie. And as their journey starts, they realize that fun turns into one misadventure to remember.
This 2015 comedy reboot is one of the reasons why comedy reboots are bad news. What completely fails this movie are the terrible punchlines and cruel jokes that do not even hit hard to make us laugh. There are also many unnecessary appearances of guests like Chris Hemsworth, Leslie Mann, Chevy Chase, Beverly D'Angelo and a cameo from Norman Reedus.
It has many reasons to dislike it including the totally foul words from the little brother (Stebbins), unfunny sex jokes and forgettable moments. But in the end, it still shows the importance of family and their unity to face the consequences along the way and ahead the road.
VERDICT: The Griswolds embark on a road trip they would never forget, but the audience will.
