Review of Vacancy (2007) by José Pedro L — 21 Sep 2009
A great, edgy, frightening tale of a stranded couple and a killer who loves to taunt his prey. Kate Beckinsale and Luke Wilson are amazing both as the quarelling couple, and the terrified unfortunates in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Frank Whaley pulls off an amazingly off-beat villain, and Ethan Embry is fabulous in his short scene with dialogue. The cinematography is better than the acting, and far superior to the plot itself. You might say that while the plot is somewhat lacking, the idea itself is a good one and the camera work, sets and overall feel achieved do more than make up for the sometimes cheesy plot twists.
