Review of Vacancy (2007) by Jesse H — 31 Jan 2010
'Vacancy' is like a Morden day Psycho, it's basically about a couple, David (Luke Wilson) and Amy Fox (Kate Beckinsale) is distraught when they take a wrong turn on a remote mountain road. They decide to check into a completely isolated motel in northern California supervised by Mason (Frank Whaley). They soon realize they are in a cell phone dead zone, I love the way the Title, music, style and theme of the film begins (a bit like Psycho), brilliant way to start out a Hardcore Psychotic Thriller, also the movie is about the two couples lost their son and getting to hate each other, while there on the road (lost) they found this hotel, then they find a video tape rec of murder by the owner there in shock and in terror and try an escape, but it take them to the next morning while realizing the do really love each other at the end of the film (sweet). The Tagline of the film is "How can you escape...if they can see everything?" & "once you've checked in... The terror begins".
The Movie is very dark, scary, twisted, terrifying, creepy, eerie, disturbing, freaky, very odd & upsetting out take Horror/Thriller, The film builds on tense, thrills, shock with mot really a gory Horror/Thriller movie more on Rapping them & videotaping them over there murders and scaring the shit out of them. The Ending of the film is really bad for the women getting hit by that weirdo manger, but they have a huge fight for survival and who do you think wins the battle. The music is creepy, catch for this decent Horror/Thriller/Mystery Movie, while showings of nasty snuff films that are disturbing. The film is the most chilling Motel Horror,Thriller & Mystery in recent years(since Pyscho and somewhat the same), the film in my eyes is a Masterpiecs/Epic thrill Movie ride and I love the Trailer of the film is say alot and show its a great movie.
The Film was made on a budget of $19,000,000 and had grossed worldwide at the Box Office of $35,300,645 which it wasn't huge or mega, but it past its budget, while being a huge massive success on DVD sales & rentals the film earned a lot back from it small gross at the cinema. The film was mixed reviews or mainly positive with critics, while being Overwhelming Positive responds by the audience & fans alike (of the director, actors & genre of the Movie). The Movie was distributed by Screen Gems (US & Worldwide on DVD) & Sony Pictures (In Europe and UK, also having Screen Gems on DVD) both brilliant film company, while loving screen Gems as they bring out really great Horror, Thriller & Remake Movie's.
The Movie acting was brilliant with a decent low cast of; Luke Wilson, Kate Beckinsale, Frank Whaley & a stunt people. The acting is amazingly brilliant with Luke Wilson in a Horror/Thriller and original the lovely Sarah Jessica Parker was going to be in it but was replace by the lovely Kate Beckinsale (which are both lovely talented actress). The film Director Nimrod Antal did a very style/themed, oldies/Morden time Horror/Thriller movie with a super cast with great psycho performance.
Overall the films was thrilling, Creepy, eerie & many more. The Pinewood motel is a place you really don't want to stay at with nasty & unpleasant surprises and somewhat bloody count us this B-Movie Horror film is just what you need. The Film is a Must See for hardcore Horror & Thriller fans, but might not be for everyone's taste of a film, but is different for Teenagers, Adults & some Old People (who can handily shock & horror). The genre/element of the film is fanatics the Horror, Mystery & Thriller is aswome and keeps this film going with bloody great Thrilling & horror performance by the two leads, director and cast this film, The film is a non-stop Rollercoaster ride of chills and terror and keep on going until the end with great fight scene and witty twist, with a good enough Plot/Storyline for the based on Horror, Thriller & Mystery and will be no doubt will be a Cult Classic among its genre/elements and Background, with generation to follow its greatness this film stand the test of time of the best psycho thriller of the year (Best of 2007,Horror, Thriller & Mystery film), (all soo a Favourite Horror movie of 2007 for me) and possible being the best Horror, Thriller & Mystery film of the decade (2000-2010). Lv It!!!
