Review of Vacancy (2007) by Brandon V — 27 Mar 2011
What can I say about Vacancy that would best describe what I feel. This movie is scary! Plain and simple. The premise is so unnerving that I resonates with all road weary travelers.
You're out alone, middle of the night, and you stop at an "off-the-beaten-path" motel for the evening. You're always taking one look over your shoulder because these are unfamiliar surroundings and you are not completely comfortable with them.
What this movie lacks in story in more than makes up for it in shear terror. Luke Wilson and Kate Beckinsale are very convincing as a terrorized couple with deep feelings for one another. Besides Silence of the Lambs and The Shining this movie gave me the most shock, surprise and sheer joy at the inventiveness of the stalk/kill by the dispatchers of mayhem. Sends shivers into me just thinking of the tension.
Make this a watch on your list of yet to see titles!!
