Review of Vacancy (1999) by James R — 09 Aug 2010
I'm very surprised by how much this movie works so well. First off it super reminds me of an Alfred Hitchcock movie. There's this kind of dreadful feeling and the location reminds me of Psycho. This is all a good thing because the movie is really well done.
Luke Wilson and Kate Beckinsale are wonderful as a troubled couple. They soon have to work with each other to escape the motel. Their interactions seem real and it is a pleasant surprise.
The movie sets up the story very early on, so it may seem nothing is happening, but the suspense is awesome! It has some jump out of your seat moments that make the movie fun to watch.
If you've never seen this movie and are a suspense/horror fan or a Hitchcock fan definitely check this out!
