Review of V/H/S/2 (2013) by Charles S — 08 Jul 2013
My girlfriend and I are huge horror aficionados and thought V/H/S was really cool, really different, and really scary. Because of this and especially after the Red Band trailer, we pounced at the chance and rented V/H/S 2 on On Demand the other day.
Utter and total disappointment. It was an extreme let down. The sequel lacked everything the first one had. Originality, uniqueness, creativity, and scares. This film felt rushed so it could cash in on the name, like Saw.
The stories are weak and thoughtless, most to the point of silliness which voided of all elements of fear and dread. We found ourselves laughing many times at the dumbness of it all. Some, like the cult episode (previewed above) had a ton of potential but were squandered by being too cliche and not very well thought out in the story department, or in its actual execution.
Don't rent it for $9.99, wait for it on Netflix streaming, it can't be long now.
