Review of V/H/S/2 (2013) by The D — 14 Jun 2013
I think they may have taken my advice from my review of the first collection, shortened the film. This compendium of horror genres comes at you like The Fast Show of horror films.
Four tales, Two people with implants witness strange occurences, the second a pure take on The Walking Dead on a bike trail. The third a sickening tale of a cult and finally an alien abduction.
Interlaced with these tapes is a couple who are searching for a teenager and stumble across his video blogs and the tapes. The female of the two watches them and they seem to be taking an effect on her.
The tales are more manic this time round and to a point quite silly but they are so frenetic in their sequences particularly the cult climax and the alien abduction that they do take you back a bit. The other two tales are the weaker but still reasonable additions to the quartet.
They are all mostly quite bloody throughout and have a good shock level but there are some shaky effects from time to time which induce a smirk.
If you enjoyed the first V/H/S then this should be just right for you.
