Disappointment not strong enough a word.
The original VHS was good, sloppy, but good. It had a raw quality that set it apart from other horror and footage found movies. Love it or hate it, it's hard to deny the fresh approach it took. It got me excited for the next one, which was a mistake.
The next VHS cuts back on the amount of videos. That's a plus, because the original's amount was a little much. Having less videos gives each more time to develop a story, which is met with... mixed results. With additional time the stories somehow feel less developed than the previous VHS. The overarching story is weaker too. There's less intensity overall, and too much silliness for me. That's right, silliness.
When some winged beast demon is born, crashes into a car, pins the person down, and asks "Daddy...?" I bail.
