Review of V for Vendetta (2006) by Rhys O — 19 Feb 2013
Wow! Now that's a movie. From the first five minutes it grabs us and doesn't let go until the credits start rolling, who would have thought an american actress like Natalie Portman would have given a believable and compelling performance as a young Londoner who gets caught up in this mass revolution.
And Hugo Weaving gives us a brilliant anti-hero performance, who even with all his flaws, we still warm to him. The Wachowski brothers have delivered their best film since the first Matrix. But if there has to be a flaw in this perfect movie, it's that there wasn't enough Stephen Fry! I mean that bloke from QI can act, and this may be an extremely rash statement, but say half an hour more of screen time and he could've been nominated for say, an Academy Award?
