Review of V for Vendetta (2006) by Justin L — 31 Aug 2013

Gripping and suspenseful with riveting performances by the two leads. Brilliantly thematic and metaphorical in handling strong themes such as fascism vs. freedom. The production was fine, the score was acceptable (loved the use of the 1812 overture), the visuals were detailed, the direction and cinematography were decent and of course, the writing by the Wachowskis was excellent.

While it certainly isn't a flawless film (plot holes, convoluted story etc.), it was more than just the typical Hollywood blockbuster - with light yet adequate and satisfying dabs into rather political and thought-provoking themes and ideas.
