Review of Us (2019) by Apropos — 26 May 2019
After having seen "Get Out", I wanted to like this movie and I tried my hardest to judge "Us" with an even peele. The movie feels rather slow and even cheesy at times, keeping you watching by not answering the lingering questions you may have had from the beginning; only hinting at potential answers during various scenes.
However, the film fails to fully commit to any overarching meaning it seems to be reaching for. Instead, the meaning generated by the answers to those lingering questions remains contained within the limited context of the world within the movie; basically insignificant, once the movie ends.
