Review of Us (2019) by Gromit1 — 23 Mar 2019
This movie is stylish, has an interesting premise, but suffers badly from some inconsistent character developments and a completely predictable twist. It was strange to watch this movie because it felt like a lot of things were so deliberately set up through REALLY long nearly static shots, and a lot of symbolism only to sort of get brushed off in the end when the "why" is barely explained. I'm all for an ambiguous ending - but this wasn't even ambiguous, it just felt rushed and kind of lazy.
Us is definitely worth seeing, but again I'm baffled by the unwavering praise.
