Review of Urbanized (2011) by Paul L — 26 Jun 2012
What makes a great city? Is it the shops? The restaurants? The local arts centre? Is it the grassy areas for working lunches or the latest nightclubs? In his latest film âUrbanizedâ?, Gary Hustwitt (Helvetica, Objectified) aims to find out where city development fails, and why there are certain cities that people want to live in.
As Joshua Leon so perfectly writes in his Metropolis review, âUrbanized is an extraordinarily ambitious attempt to make sense of a world flowing into cities. This visually arresting film, like Hustwittâ(TM)s past work, elegantly conveys the omnipresence of design in daily life.
â? If you have any interest in where you live, this is essential viewing.
