Review of Urban Legends: Bloody Mary (2005) by Joe J — 17 Nov 2007
For some reason, the Urban Legend series has drawn some of Hollywood's hottest young actors - Jared Leto, Rebecca Gayheart, Joshua Jackson, Tara Reid, Joseph Lawrence, Anthony Anderson and even Eva Mendes...it's like to be considered young and hip you have to had starred in an Urban Legend movie.
Bloody Mary is no different. Although the only really famous person in this movie is the lead actress, Kate Mara ("Shooter," "Zoom"). The story is different from the original, this time centering on a girl in 1969 who was accidentally killed and stuffed in a trunk in the school storage room, and we are flashed forward to today, where the kids of the kids who did this to the girl are dying one-by-one, and the only way to stop her is find her bones (which, somehow, are still in that chest...despite YEARS of being there all around people who could've SMELLED what was in there) and bury her.
Of course there's your typical horror movie 'twist' which isn't really a twist at all, where we discover who the person who actually killed Mary (back in 1969) is today...let me tell you, it wasn't a shocker.
The hippie African American chick was awesome though.
Other than that, the movie was totally LAME.
