This movie is great and I can't wait to see it again. I think you should see it. Although I say all this knowing the kind of movies I like and what I take away from movies. I took a way a lot from the movie. So I liked it a lot. I also really loved the movie's visuals and audio. So what you take away will depend on some factors.

And now for some unraveling of what I was reminded of and some observations (I don't know if this would spoil anything or not. So it's probably better if you have seen the movie first before you read what I'm saying here):

I could relate this movie to Cronenberg's movies quite easily if I wanted to since transcendence is a main theme that sticks out. Henry David Thoreau's book Walden is a connecting factor in the story, I haven't read the book myself, but after looking it up and reading about it I can tell it has a HUGE amount to do with the themes in the movie. The movie reminded me of the play/movie BUG. Only a little bit because that movie involved 2 characters who were connecting in this new way and there was a fusion of some sort that happened. The delusions of one of the characters slipped over into the other character and they started to have the same delusions. There is some parts involving memories and the two characters having the same memory that lead me to start thinking about BUG. Also the scenes with the worms inside the body reminded me of the bugs inside the body, so there is that as well.
