UPSTREAM COLOR begins well enough, loses its way briefly here and there ( or perhaps loses this viewer ) in the middle so that it drags; then picks up remarkably and moves forward with great power. Its oddities are many; the characters are sadly manipulated like pigs.
And the ending of the tale is satisfying in a way I was not expecting. I recommend it wholeheartedly. Get ready, though; much of it boggles the mind.
