Review of Upstream Color (2013) by Hawk _ — 19 Nov 2014

I like weird movies where you have to do some of the digging but this was ridiculous. If you don't understand what's happening by the halfway mark you might as well give up. That's because the back half of the movie has very little dialogue and is made up of several seemingly random scenes away from the main character.

These all make sense, mind you, once you know what the story is but Carruth is unwilling to give us an inch. Even now, knowing what the movie is essentially about (Thank you internet) I have to say, it's kind of lame and doesn't give an excuse for how obtuse this movie insists on being.
