Review of Upside Down (2012) by Arko B — 25 Nov 2012
I don't know if it's only my impression but I found this year to be strangely lacking romantic Hollywood productions, both comedies and dramas. Somehow I was in the mood for some on-screen romance and stumbled upon "Upside Down". As I said, I was in the mood and if that's the case my reviews end up unreasonably biased.
The story revolves around the love between two people living in parallel worlds. A combination of sci-fi and love story, more leaning towards the latter. The whole idea of two worlds is quite interesting and it keeps your attention. The atmosphere with the blueish colors is enigmatic and entrancing. The love story lets you disregard possible unscientific developments. The story develops nicely but the last quarter was, imo, slighly abrupt and disappointing. Still, I recommend the movie highly because of the idea, the terrific feel and the sci fi-love story combo.
