Review of Upside Down (2012) by Kurt B — 06 Feb 2013
With a better director, better screenplay and better actors, this might have gone to become what I'd describe as a 'cinematic marvel'.Upside Down is your old-fashioned romantic story presented with fresh ideas and a weird and unique concept.
The visuals in this film are dazzling and some of the scenes are absolutely breath-taking.The problem with Upside Down is its horrible screenplay, unbearably cliched dialogues, laughable narration and a typical ending.
Jim Sturgess and Kirsten Dunst do a decent job, but as the producers seemed to have spent a huge amount on this film, they could have surely spent some more to have better actors. Timothy Spall, an actor I adore, is horrendous.
All in all, I'd say that this film was worth my time. The visuals keep you spell-bound throughout the movie. Some of the scenes, like Adam going from Up to Down through the water are brilliant.Final verdict - I am going to see this movie on the big screen for the visuals and special effects.
A movie worth watching.
