Review of Upside Down (2012) by Ross A — 19 Feb 2013
I usually don't post reviews here, but I have to for this film. So what if it took a year to come out in the states, what we have here is a beautifully shot, written, decently acted futuristic take on Romeo and Juliet with an incredible, mind-numbing twist of fate.
Two areas each with their own gravity to it, an upper (mid-upper class), and the bottom (low class). The people whom live on the Bottom can still interact with those on the upper, but they see them upside down, and vice versa.
It's just like Shakespearian time, when the rich were able to look down at the poor in every arena, such as in the arts, theater, theatres (different spelling; different meaning). This film borrows from such great ideas and themes from many, many years ago, puts a unique, special twist on it, and delivers an incredibly rich, intriguing, and masterful film that is as much beautiful and charming as it is romantic.
Don't hate cause it got pushed back, watch it and make your opinion.
