Review of Upside Down (2012) by Dimi R — 30 Jun 2013
The story is a mixture of science fiction and romance which is a risky combination but it pays off in the end. The dialogue is pretty cheesy at times but considering that the movie is PG-13, I would expect there to be bits of cheesy romantic lines.
The main thing that I personally liked about Upside Down was that the beginning is really the only mention of any science fiction stuff. It is explained that there are two planets that basically are right next to each other, which allows all of the upside down/gravity stuff to happen.
After this is mentioned, the majority of the movie is able to focus on the relationship between Adam and Eden, which is told as well as it could be. Visually, this movie is something special. There are a lot of moments where perspectives are changed, where it gives the feeling of someone actually living in a world above those that are on normal ground.
Definitely worth the rent.
