Review of Up in the Air (2009) by Robin N — 11 Mar 2013
The film deals with a 40-something Ryan Bingham (George Clooney) who is hired to give pink slips to employees of different companies when they are cutting costs. The idea sounds boring and outrightly cruel, but that is what Bingham likes and Jason Reitman brings the hell out of his character.
Bingham in his own words is travelling 270 days every year doing the same thing over and over again, still loves his job. The film offers a different take on various lives that coincide on this journey and keeps you interested for the first half.
After a moment, it feels dull and lacks any kind of chutzpah. The movie often moves on predictable lines except for the fact that Bingham's so called crush was already married.
This one has a nice touch to it but only ends up revitalising those who are on the go for professional reasons.
