Review of Up in Smoke (1978) by Rod A — 01 May 2010
There are a couple of scenes in this film that are laugh out loud funny, not a lot, just a few. As I watched, I realized that this film reminded me of a W.C. Fields' comedy. Cheech and Chong poke fun at everyone, including themselves.
They gleefully illustrate how ridiculous we all are. Everyone in the film is frustrated at not having enough or not being in control. Ironically, I found many of the unreleased out-takes found in the special features much more funny than the scenes included in the movie.
This is not an overwhelming comedy, but I was impressed with the scope of its lambasting.
