Review of Untraceable (2008) by Melissa A — 14 Sep 2011
I disagree with the negetive reviews. I thought it was a thoughtful movie. It condemns the voyeristic approach modern society seems to possess in regards to shock value. Society is programmed to "love" watching horrific tragedy. No, I dont think the movie is hypocritical in that sense. If you do a movie about a psycho-killer, you have to show a wee bit of blood. I hate torture and pornographic violence, and I was not bothered by this movie.
But, I found it to be somewhat shallow (ie. I wanted to feel more for the characters, more loathing toward the bad guy, more sympathy for Diane Lane, the ambiguous struggle between her and Billy Burke to get closer)...things of that nature. But overall, I was interested.
